Latest Releases

We're happy to present to you the latest single from Luke Pompey, resident at Leeds' infamous 'Filth' club night. Luke's recent output includes the massive unofficial remix of Dennis Ferrer's 'Hey Hey' which gained plays on Pete Tong's essential selection and currently has nearly 205,000 views on Youtube. Luke also produced the Nightmares On Wax'/Pretty Lights sampling 'Sometimes' is that good we've included it as a bonus promo track. Mind Control takes a classic acidic direction with its 909 drums and 303 arpeggios which interweave with that BIG bass line. Freaky string lines and dirty FX complete Luke's modern take on a classic style. We also have two remixes, the first from DRR's Olivaffair (Leigh Oliver), the second comes from Croatia's Darko Kustura.

After putting together this compilation to showcase new and existing Definite Ridge artists it became apparent that there was a sinister but enjoyable underlying edge to the tracks selected, hence the name 'Dark Side Of the Studio'. Stylistically the compilation shifts from from jackin' and deep to funk and tech but it retains a unifying vibe through out and makes a great introduction for the artists new to the label. Artists featured include Marvin Parks, Leigh D Oliver, Sliptide, Chemical G, Luke Gibson, Matt Fear and Ovr Kill.

  • Our second release comes from Chemical G AKA Gaz Norris with his 'Connected EP'. Gaz is quickly becoming known for his remixing skills on numerous International labels but here he presents an EP of 3 original tracks. Track one 'Superstar', is a relentless fruity groove complimented by the organ stabs and flute trills and completed with a spoken vocal. 'The Trip' utilises syncopated percussion, drum fills and synth stabs - plus rantings from mad Mr Preacher man. 'Connected' uses twisted vocal chops and hiccups to make up the groove, the bass then drops and ties the track together to excellent effect. The EP concludes with Seattle based Sliptide’s tripped out interpretation of ‘Connected’ which takes the track on a deeper route with low sub bass, tight crispy beats and a cream laden synth pad – sublime!
